Introduced by the Isaly
Dairy Company in 1922, the Klondike ice cream bar quickly became
one of America's most popular treats. Numerous Isaly's factories
in cities like Youngstown, Pittsburgh, and Canton made Klondikes
for the hundreds of Isaly's stores in neighborhoods throughout the
Western Pennsylvania and Northeastern Ohio region. A tasty bar of
ice cream covered in chocolate, Klondikes were every kid's favorite
and all hoped to find a "Lucky Coupon" inside the wrapper,
entitling them to a free Klondike bar.
